Twitter launches EarlyBird account

Everyone knows the old saying “the early bird gets the worm”. Well, Twitter is putting a whole new twist on the commonly used phrase. As of Tuesday, July 6th, Twitter launched their newest account EarlyBird, which re-tweets exclusive offers and special promotions from some of their select advertisers. The best part is, these exclusive offers are specifically, and only for, the Twitter community!

There’s only one small catch; the offers are subject to time and supply constraints, as determined by the advertisers. However, these time constraints should not be an issue for the avid Twitter follower considering that being up-to-date and ‘in the know’ of what’s going on in the world comes second nature to passionate Twitter users.

Followers may be disappointed that the tweets generates by this account will not be filtered t their own personal interests. But don’t worry; Twitter has already addressed this issue in the account’s very first tweet by saying that they are already working on integrating a solution. Soon, EarlyBird followers will be able to set preferences to their interests such as music, sports, or fashion.

Major companies such as Dell, have already experienced a lot of success with promoting their products via Twitter. Dell had reported that they have received $6.5 million orders for PCs, accessories and software just from the promotions on their Twitter account. This new combination of tweeting promotions for multiple advertisers on one account should prove beneficial to both Twitter and all companies involved.

Since it’s launch, the account already has almost 15,000 followers and there has only been one tweet so far that explains how the account works. It looks as though the EarlyBird account will be a success for Twitter. So the question is: will you be the EarlyBird who gets the worm?
