Group Gifting on eBay!

With the holiday season approaching, everyone will soon start to think about what special gifts they will be giving. To make the process of gift giving a little easier, eBay has just launched a new Group Gifts service which allows you and a few friends to collectively purchase those bigger gifts by utilizing the power of social networks.

This concept was developed through various notions; “First, eBay saw that people were using social websites to buy virtual gifts for their friends frequently…it made sense to take that to the next level and help people come together to buy actual gifts, says Andy Palmer, manager of buyer experience for Group Gifts. “Perhaps more importantly, eBay recognized that the process of group gifting as it exists in the world today can be difficult and frustrating at times, which is a shame because giving as a group is a wonderful way to give people bigger, better gifts without spending too much during these tougher economic times.”

It’s so simple! When choosing a group gift you are able to use information from the recipients Facebook profile to help generate a list of inspirational relevant gift suggestions, if you don’t already have something in mind. After choosing a gift from the “Buy it now” tab you are able to send email invites to those chipping in or Facebook invite them privately.

“The process of giving a group gift has now become easy, intuitive and fun by utilizing the largest online market place, the safest online payment mechanism, and two of the largest social communities in the world,” says Palmer.

This is a great tool to use for purchasing gift for a boss, family members and even friends. The collaboration between eBay and Facebook can now make everyone’s group shopping a breeze for any occasion!
