A Cheesy Defeat

If you were following us on #ManVsCheese @Response on Twitter, you knew the outcome of the Caseus Cheese Truck Challenge which our own Michael Ackerson took on in the hopes of being able to name a grilled cheese sandwich after himself, “The Mackerson”.

For all of you who did not follow the challenge on Twitter, this is what happened. Michael was up against two other competitors, Brian Punch and Andrew Sinclair. Despite the added competition, Michael was calm, collected and prepared to take on the challenge. He started strong with a strategy of eating two sandwiches’ at a time. He powered through the beginning, as did the competition. In the lead was Brian Punch who devoured 5 sandwich’s in 5 minutes. However, as jaws got tired and stomachs filled with gooey cheese, Michael and the competitors slowed down. Their motivation to continue was no longer present. Punch reclined and admitted his defeat, as Michael continued onto his 6th sandwich. Sinclair, however, was onto his 9th sandwich, but to his cheesy demise…it just couldn’t sit in his stomach any longer…I think you can imply what happened afterward.

Michael, unfortunately, could not consume all 10 sandwich’s consisting of 6 pounds of cheese in 1 hour. He did complete a risky 6, after which he slipped into a “food coma” for the rest of the day and recovering all weekend…

It was a valiant effort by all competitors and to Michael…maybe next time!
