Man Vs Cheese

Legends are born every day, and tomorrow comes a new legend from Response Marketing itself…The Mack Attack Ackerson who will attempt a challenge in which food overcame man, and few have succeeded. Michael first heard about this challenge when watching Man vs. Food Nation on the Travel Channel. Inspired by his great food feats, Michael signed up for the Caseus Cheese Truck Challenge, hosted right here at our home base of New Haven, CT. Potential champions will take on 10 grilled cheeses, weighing over 6 pounds, in an hour or less. If they are successful, they have the choice to personally name a grilled cheese sandwich after themselves…in this case, The Mackerson.

It all started when Michael was a kid at J.C. (Jewish Camp) where he discovered his love for grilled cheese. He does not have a specific preference for any type of cheese, and for the challenge, he doesn’t have a choice.

What is your strategy?: “I decided to choose Arugula as my topping choice. It’s the lighter add-on choice and may help me digest the mounds of cheese I consume…I also plan to use their mustard as a last resort as a taste enhancer to push me through the end of the challenge”.

Michael’s motivation for the challenge is to make the Response Marketing team proud! (Thanks for the shout out!) In his words, “Food + Winning = Response”. Another motivation is to “basically avoid humiliation of failing…” If Michael had to listen to any song on repeat to pump him up for the challenge, it would be the Final Countdown by Europe, or RESPECT by Aretha Franklin (after successfully finishing, of course).

How have you trained for this epic challenge?: “This past weekend I was at a wedding, and my and my buddies decided to have a small eating contest to see who could eat the most, the fastest. I ate 3 eggs, French toast, regular toast, hash browns, bacon, and ham, all in 5 minutes…I won”.

What will you do if you win?: “I’ll ask the cheese truck lady (“sunshine”) out on a date, that is, if I’m not in a food coma”

Michael is worried that his nerves will get in the way of him devouring 6 pounds of grilled cheese, but we know he can do it, with the help of his stretchy gym shorts. But wait, another factor has been thrown into the mix. A competitor will be facing the challenge tomorrow as well.

How do you feel about the competition? : “I plan on working with the other competitor. As I see it, we’re both winners…as long as I don’t lose”

Follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/#!/response (#manvscheese). We will be Tweeting live from the event, and letting everyone know his status as he attempts the challenge!

Come out to support Michael while he devours mountains of cheese in hopes to ultimately claim himself a Cheese Truck Challenge Champion.

Good Luck Michael!
