Everyone get ready to OOOOOOO and AAAAAHHHH, because today at Response, we will be sharing our little tablet secrets; what we like, what we love, and what we gotta have. Ratherthan all of us using the recent Light Sabers app to battle it out and see whose is really better, we’re sharing the ups, the downs, and all around advantages of having this new technology in our workspace.
David, the head honcho of our Account Services, claims that his iPad2 is the perfect synthesis of his laptop and his iPhone, allowing him to see bigger screen images without having to lug around his computer just to look at one file. He raved about business apps, like Evernote (for note taking), Dropbox (for sharing large files), and Prezi (a PowerPoint on steroids).Yet, believe it or not, David isn’t always about business. Sometimes you can find him jamming out on Garageband, or catching up with Carrie’s gossip watching Sex and the City with HBO Go (oh come on, we all know you do!). Though he has found little use of the double sided camera, David claims his iPad2 has been a life saver for his business and his social life!
Taking it back a generation… back to the future… Scott, part of our creative mastermind, has the original iPad and says even with all the new releases, he would stick with what he’s got. Though also a fan of Dropbox, one of Scott’s favorite apps is Airdisplay, an app that allows him to use his iPad screen as second monitor, which is great when your job is designing. Being the social butterfly he is, he uses Twitter to follow his fellow Phans (Phish fans, and, of course, play Plants Vs. Zombies.
And then there’s the odd ball, the fish out of water, the ugly duckling…Jamie. Of course we don’t mean these to hurt his feelings (or do we?), just to point out that we has escaped the norm and uses his Samsung Galaxy to get the job done. He says he is “totally addicted” to this cell phone-on-crack, with a seven inch screen and a slightly larger girth than the iPad. The Galaxy has a one-up on the iPad, allowing Jamie to watch Flash videos and using Flash for his creative side. Other than that, he keeps track of his bank accounts, keeps up with his favorite sports teams, and gets in touch with his inner racer using Android apps. The one “hole” in the Galaxy (get it?!) is its strict screen layouts, but nevertheless, Jamie is obsessed.
So which tablet wins? I guess it’s a business thing, a social thing, and a gaming thing combined. But I believe that its safe to say that each gives the world at your fingertips.
