Jamie Olin: The Man, The Myth, The New Associate Creative Director
Response Marketing is proud to announce the acquisition of its newest full-time employee, Associate Creative Director, Jamie Olin. Today I had the pleasure of sitting down with the graphic design extraordinaire in order to peel back the layers and get a good look at the guy behind the guy. After all, we here at Response recognizing the importance of understanding what makes our employees tick in order to foster a comfortable, familiar environment in which their creative juices can flow like Manishewitz at a Bar Mitzvah. Anyhow, my conversation with Jamie was as enjoyable as it was informative, and here’s a little glimpse into our new design dynamo’s (design-amo) journey that brought him to us.
Throughout his childhood, Jamie had always found himself interested in art and design. His natural desire to create led him to enroll in various creative workshops and elective art classes throughout his formative years. While harnessing his talent and building himself as an artist, Jamie also developed an affinity for computers, which served as the perfect segway into majoring in Graphic Design and double-minoring in Art History and Photography at the University of Miami.
Since graduation (year unknown, since Jamie is as timeless as Mr. Miyagi, and twice as good at karate) he has been developing an impressive portfolio with his work in the field, ranging from humble beginnings as an intern at a popular food magazine to the sportswear juggernaut Starter. Jamie eventually ended up working for himself for a 10 year stretch, doing freelance design for websites, logos, packaging, ad campaigns, etc…you name it, and our man Jamie has done it.
As for his hobbies? Well that’s when things get interesting. When he’s not completely engulfed in satisfying his need for adrenaline by watching Nascar, Jamie plays underwater rugby. Yes, underwater rugby…that’s not a typo. Now take a second to let that process. Can you so much as begin to fathom the focus and mental strength it must take to play a contact sport that takes place completely under water? I, for one, cannot. This eccentric extracurricular activity of his is a tribute to his unique personality and overall modus operandi. You give Jamie a seedling of an idea and he’ll give you back a uniquely trimmed, fully flourished bonsai tree of intrigue and cutting-edge creativity. He also gives killer high fives.
His zest for his work is exceeded only by his ambition and appetite for perfection. Combine that with his technical skills and background, I’d say this is the man you want heading up your marketing campaign. We’re all thrilled to have him on board here at Response and look forward to keeping it real with him in the years to come.
